Akashic Learning 9: Soul

Not everyone agrees with this, but I don’t think you need a teacher or a set process to learn how to access your Akashic Records. Simply put, everyone has his or her own way of tapping into their soul’s flow. We adopt blessings / techniques / rituals as scaffolds to guide us confidently along the path, but with practice, I believe we can literally breathe our way into the Records. When you focus your intention Read more…

Akashic Learning 8: Library?

Some people picture the Akashic Records as a cosmic library that contains everyone’s Book of Life. And why not? That is what an Internet search will lead you to think, and many have indeed learned to work in the Records using this metaphor. This is not how I learned or teach others, though. I don’t believe in giving people preconceived notions of what or what not to expect when they connect. I do have one Read more…

Akashic Learning 7: Breath

I couldn’t let the first week of Akashic Learning pass without talking about breath, because breath supports the practice from start to finish. When I turn inward to begin attuning to the Akashic Records I start taking mindful breaths to balance and center my energies. I also feel intention move on my breath. So when I work with a question, I use a full breath to send it out to the Records and use the pause between inhale/exhale Read more…

Akashic Learning 6: Forgiveness

Lest anyone think from yesterday’s post that working with the Akashic Records is all love and rainbows, let me nip that misconception in the bud. Holding a space of non-judgment and unconditional love does not mean sweeping wrongs under the carpet. That would amount to spiritual bypass, a lesson I learned most powerfully when I was working with forgiveness. If there is a forgiveness tool out there, I’ve probably tried it. (“It’s not about Read more…

Akashic Learning 5: Love

So far we’ve covered beginner’s mind, clear intention, and trust as the pillars to a solid Akashic Records practice. To this list I would add unconditional love. When I asked the Records what love meant, they responded it was helping someone “feel seen, heard, and held.” (If you know me from my youth work or Dreamers and Schemers, you might have already heard this!) While this work engages the whole being, it’s above all a path of the Read more…

Akashic Learning 3: Don’t think before you speak

Often an Akashic Records practice will demand that you turn deeply held habits or values on their head. A big one for me was only to speak when I’d developed enough knowledge or expertise. I spent the better part of a decade in grad school, building up all sorts of skills including thorough research and well-fortified arguments. Unfortunately, almost all of it was at the expense of courage. I’d come up with bold ideas, but Read more…

Akashic Learning 3: Trust

Along with beginner’s mind and clear intention, the third pillar of an Akashic Record reading is trust—trust in the support of Spirit and trust in myself. Once I attune to the Records and feel the supporting energies, I know I am not alone, left to my own devices to figure out answers to another person’s burning life questions. Having spent a good amount of time in grad school, being able to come up with right Read more…

Akashic Learning 2: Intention

Following beginner’s mind, intention is another fundamental pillar of an Akashic Records reading. With openness but no clear intention, it feels like I am sitting before the entire Internet with nothing to type into the search bar. When the sitter’s intention leads the way, I can hold the energy steady, stripped of the sitter’s anxieties or attachments on the issue, and also of any personal agenda not in alignment with the client’s intention for healing. Sometimes Read more…

Akashic Learning 1: Beginner’s Mind

Yesterday I committed to emerging from my hermitage, and in the shower I was inspired to post daily about what I’ve learned from the Akashic Records over the next month till the Akashic Records study group is back from summer break. We begin this series, appropriately, with Beginner’s Mind. While I believe anyone can learn to access the Records, this often entails unlearning so very many habits of mind in order Read more…

Coming out of my shell

I’ve been silent in this space for a long while, partly because I’m in the middle of moving from NYC to upstate New York. In this time I’ve been grounding myself. I’ve stopped going to fly class and I’ve returned to gardening. I really needed to get my hands and feet right on Earth and literally in the earth again, and also attend to all the mundane logistics moving house entails. I’ve stayed connected with Read more…
