After a detour into the discerning mind‘s role in Akashic Record readings, we finally come to the last post on this series on the elements of a quality Akashic Record reading:
TOP FIVE QUALITIES OF AN AKASHIC RECORD READING
- Purity of intention of reader (allowing client’s intention to drive the reading)
- Presence (reader shows up fully without external concerns)
- Peace and stillness (of the reading environment, both external and internal to the reader)
- Open mind (humility, beginner’s mind, discernment)
- Open heart (courage, trust in the flow, joy of discovery)
Open heart is perhaps my favorite aspect of a reading. I consider everything we’ve been discussing thus far as simply laying the groundwork. With open mind we begin to open to possibility, but the deepening of that possibility (and the pure joy that accompanies that process) comes with the ability to maintain an open heart.* The heart, not the mind, is what moves us through fear and doubt. It is the source of our courage.
For many of us, learning to work in the Records is an exercise in trust: Can I trust what’s coming to me? Can I trust myself to understand it? Can I trust that I’m not making it up? Can I trust that I’m even doing this right? etc. Before it becomes a habit (of mind, heart, and spirit), trust begins as an active choice. Breathing, as always, helps.
Sometimes it’s a moment by moment thing, until you feel yourself carried on a wave of energy that feels reassuringly “not you.” But even when the Records sound suspiciously “like you,” you keep breathing, and trust that you are simply in an aspect of the Records that feels more integrated with who you are in this moment than in others.
Sometimes lack of trust (i.e., fear and doubt) is not so much “your” issue but something you bump into in the Records because of your client’s state of mind. During highly charged readings, the reader is able to breathe through the nerves and anxiety of the client and find the flow that is always there, even when it feels constricted or doesn’t feel like much of anything at all. In a quality reading, the reader embraces whatever the process looks and feels like wholeheartedly.
Beyond simply setting doubt, worry, and hesitation aside, the joy of discovery leads the way through uncertainty. Approached in this manner, an Akashic Record reading may even take on a surprisingly light, playful spirit no matter how grave the questions may be or how grim the mood of the client may have been at the start of the reading. If the client joins the reader in this spirit of wonder and curiosity, then he will be able to find relief from his suffering and tap into the vein of freedom that exists in even the direst circumstances.
FINAL NOTE
As the final post in this series, I wanted to underscore that although I presented these thoughts in a series, their relationship to each other is by no means linear and progressive. Working in the Akashic Records is a dynamic process. While it is certainly possible to “build up” to open heart by walking through the first few steps in an orderly fashion, there is also a way you can bring that open heart with you as you approach and enter the Records. You may also find that you need to re-establish presence and stillness every now and again if you are in an environment full of distractions or if your mind is particularly jittery. If you keep your wits about you and stay aware of yourself on all levels, you will know in the moment exactly what you need to do to offer a quality reading.
